Lisa and I in A.S.
Hey, everyone! I got my first picture up...I really wanted to make this journal sort of go in order of my travels, but i realized (though I knew before) that i really need to get high speed to upload pictures...it takes way too long with dial up...so im gonna get high speed eventually but i need a pay check first...then maybe ill go in order with these pics...
anyways, this is lisa and i on the streets of American Samoa...we were right outside Laufao Center...i think this was like our first or second day here...the mountains in the backgroud are kinda cool...and the clouds look hella ominous...from the first day we were calling the island jurassic park...it not only looks exactly like it, but some of the bugs, birds, and animals are pretty creepy and weird and ginormous...and loud...the sounds you hear at night while in your bed are sometimes very scary...we usually say that the velociraptors are hiding in the palm trees...and whenever you're walking around, youll see random splats of coconuts that have fallen from trees...we always say that's teridactyl poop...
so yeah, im really busy but i would like to always say at least one interesting thing about the island in every blog...ummm, lets see...oh, the bell we have at school is just a large metal cylinder that gets banged on when class is ready to end...so incredibly retro...and our classes are never timed correctly...they either bang the bell too early or too late...and just a random list of some of my students' names...naco, radhika, tiso, tala, oless...and there's some normal names in there too...but i have to learn about 130 of those...wish me luck... oh, and it was soooo hot today...i smell disgusting even after a shower...and by the way, my ghetto house still doesnt have hot water...welcome to the suck...hoorah! love ya and miss ya...and i apologize for the boring picture...

p.s. dont let this pic fool you...we both look very happy and the scenery looks gorgeous...but thats when we were in the honeymoon phase...now its all hard work and survival...this place isnt all that and a bag of chips...i dont know if lisa's gonna make it :-) the people and their culture can be frusterating...which ill tell you guys all about in future postings...

You never went there for the bag of chips.you went there for the scary tofu seaweed dish...you knew it wouldn't taste the best but at least you could say you tried it. Hang in there- you both are doing something so great! Miss you.

One of my students gave me samoan banana chips yesterday...they are very, very good...and another one gave me homemade chocolate covered macadamia nuts...also yummy...but yeah, send me food from home!...i miss it...maybe like some of your famous BLTs...or chimichangas...or your chicken alfredo pizza...
